Ducati 125 Desmo Twin GP racer
In the summer of 1966 a Dutch 125 road race champ (on a single cylinder Ducati 125 Gran Sport nicknamed the "Mariana") visited the Moto-Trans factory (Spanish Ducati plant) during a holiday. National 125 cc champion Martien Rijkhof discovered here a 125 cc Desmo twin racer. After long negotiations he received permission to buy the machine and showed up with it on April the 6th, the first practice day of the 1967 Dutch road racing season. So here finally back after 44 years is the tantalizing sound (hear below) of a bike of which only 4 were built. One was ridden by F. Villa and placed 3rd in the Italian GP at Monza in 1958. It was then converted to a 250 cc by the Villa brothers in 1964, but never used as such. Maestro Hailwood also used a Ducati 125 twin desmo racer during the beginning of his career.
