The Fiat Idea is a mini-MPV, made by the Italian company Fiat and sold in the European and South American markets, introduced in 2004. The car is based on the Punto's floorpan and has a range of petrol and Diesel engines, including Fiat's Multijet engine series. Fiat's robotised manual gearbox is optional. The Idea is noted for its versatile interior, which includes sliding and folding rear seats, making the best possible usage of a body under 4 metres in length. The Idea's height, coupled with narrow width and narrow tracks, gives the car a high centre of gravity and, consequently, poorer handling when compared to competitors Opel Meriva and Renault Modus.
